Those pesky Windows updates always seem to kick in right at home time, delaying us yet again! (Don’t skip them this month).
January sees Record-Breaking CVEs.
(The boring bit): CVEs, are unique identifiers for security vulnerabilities in IT systems like Windows or Microsoft 365. They help categorize issues by severity (ranging from 1 to 9) and impact (e.g., Remote Code Execution or Privilege Escalation).
(The important bit): In January, Microsoft released updates addressing a record 159 CVEs, with 9 classified as ‘Critical.’
A reliable IT partner ensures you’re protected from these vulnerabilities before they become a risk.
(The plug): At Lost in IT, we proactively safeguard our clients’ systems by implementing basic things like our security baseline which includes disabling outdated and vulnerable protocols on computers and running Automated Updates: Ensuring critical patches are tracked and applied promptly, minimizing exposure to threats.
Whilst none of that sounds very exciting, these measures mean our clients’ systems remain secure—even as new vulnerabilities emerge.
(The message): Don’t delay to update your Windows systems.
